ABOUT ME
I’m Maritza Peña Muñoz (she/her), a Junior at UNM working toward my B.S. in Radiological Sciences through the UNM School of Medicine. Born and raised in Albuquerque, NM, I’m excited to continue my academic journey right here at UNM. Outside of my studies, I’m passionate about cooking, spending time with my dogs, experimenting with makeup, and, of course, writing. Writing has always been a creative outlet for me, allowing me to express my thoughts and ideas clearly.
I absolutely love fall—the cool air, cozy sweaters, and pumpkin-flavored everything make it my favorite time of year. In terms of personal goals, one of my main focuses is refining my communication skills. Whether it’s through writing a paper or engaging in conversation, I’ve always been dedicated to expressing myself in a clear and organized way. My passion for healthcare is another driving force behind my academic journey, and I’m especially fascinated by the role of medical imaging in diagnosing and treating patients.
This semester, I'm all about improving my writing, communication, and critical thinking skills. I think getting better at these will help me share my ideas more clearly and make a real impact in radiology. I'm passionate about healthcare and want to use my skills to help others and improve patient care.
I'm also working on my organizational skills and learning to better analyze and critique work. Staying focused on the main point of my writing while elaborating on ideas has been a challenge, but I'm getting there. Any feedback is always appreciated. My ultimate goal is to work in radiology, helping patients with medical imaging and making complex info easier to understand. If I were to show this portfolio to a potential employer, it would likely be a hospital or medical center that values clear communication and organization.
